About the DBT Psychology Clinic in Sydney
Cultivate emotional balance with Dialectical Behaviour Therapy
Are you feeling overwhelmed by difficult emotions? Are you often treated harshly even when you do your best to be kind? Does genuine happiness and well-being seem outside your reach? Dialectical Behaviour Therapy is a comprehensive treatment program designed specifically for people who struggle with these questions.
The DBT Psychology Clinic is a private outpatient clinic in Potts Point, Sydney. We offer a 48-week comprehensive Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) treatment program. This involves weekly individual therapy, a weekly skills-training group, and phone coaching.
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) is a program developed for clients who feel out of control in managing their emotions, particularly clients diagnosed with borderline personality disorder/traits. Research has shown DBT to be effective in reducing suicidal behaviour, non-suicidal self-injury, psychiatric hospitalisation, treatment dropout, substance use, anger and depression. It can also lower levels of stress and anxiety. DBT is not a suicide prevention program, it is a program designed to help individuals build a life worth living.

Why DBT?
Evidence-Based Treatment
DBT is a psychotherapeutic method originally developed by Dr. Marsha Linehan to treat borderline personality disorder (1993). DBT is based on a combination of cognitive behaviour therapy and Zen Buddhist practices. A careful balance of acceptance and change techniques is the foundation of this approach. It has since been successfully adapted for use with other mental health disorders that stem from problems with emotional regulation, such as eating disorders and drug and alcohol abuse. To date, there are more than 1,000 published and peer-reviewed DBT research papers.
To stay at the forefront of DBT practices and provide the best treatment possible, our DBT therapists engage in continuous professional development. They actively participate in ongoing training, supervision and consultation team meetings to enhance their knowledge, ensuring they are up-to-date with the latest advancements in DBT.
